Cadet Orientation Flights
Every CAP cadet under age 18 is eligible for five flights in a powered aircraft (usually a single-engine Cessna),
five flights in a glider aircraft, and an unlimited number of backseat flights when conditions allow.
Orientation flights are always free to cadets.
To participate, you will need:
To be a cadet under age 18
A current cadet membership - bring your membership card
To be wearing a complete uniform
Have received fewer that five (5) front seat, orientation flights in the powered or glider planes
To get the most out of your experience:
- Do not eat a heavy meal before your flight
- Bring water
- Bring your camera
- Bring your sense of adventure
Cadets or their parents are encouraged to contact one of Viking's Orientation Flight Pilots to schedule a flight.
Cadets - please do copy another senior member on all communication with the pilot(s).
Capt Alex Bee: This outstanding pilot earned his wings while actively participating in the Viking Composite Squadron, Cadet Program. Capt Bee went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in [?Aviation] while flight instructing at the University of North Dakota. Capt Bee is currently a Captain for Compass Airline. Maj Jim Zurales: Another former Civil Air Patrol cadet, now Delta Captain, has over 30,000 hours of flight time. When not in the air for Delta, Maj Zurales can be found seeking out cadets for Orientation Flights or for flight instruction. 1Lt Pete White: As a private pilot 1Lt White often chooses general aviation over commercial flight for business trips. This former Marine also serves as Viking Squadron's Deputy Commander for Seniors and CyberPatriot coach.
