Minnesota Leadership Academy (MLA)

Held MEA weekend, Minnesota Leadership Academy (MLA) is a four-day training weekend designed to provide development opportunities for cadets at all levels.

Airman Training School (ATS) – Designed for cadets new to the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. Students in this schools will learn:
•    How to excel in drill and ceremonies
•    Standards for proper uniform wear and care
•    History and traditions of Civil Air Patrol
•    All the opportunities CAP has to offer and how to take full advantage of the Cadet Program

Non-Commissioned Officer School (NCOS)- Designed for cadets who have completed Encampment and achieved the rank of C/Sr Airman. Students will gain knowledge and have hands-on experience to:
•    Lead and teach flight level drill
•    Effectively prepare and present a speech in a professional setting
•    Successfully manage the basic development of subordinate cadets
•    Recognize how their decisions impact fellow cadets and their own CAP future

Basic Cadet Officer School (BCOS) – Designed for cadets who have achieved the rank of C/CMSgt or have successfully completed NCOS. Students in this course will be ready to take the next step and lead cadets on a large scale. Skill learned include:
•    The Principles of Officership
•    The Responsibility of Command
•    How to mentor and develop younger cadets
•    How to lead cadets on a larger scale
